Thai Tone Trainer – Practice All 5 Tones

Thai is a tonal language with 5 distinct tones. The same syllable can have completely different meanings depending on the tone used. This trainer helps you hear, distinguish, and produce all 5 Thai tones correctly.

The 5 Thai Tones

  • Mid Tone (สามัญ) – Flat, steady pitch in your normal speaking range. Example: กา (kaa) = crow.
  • Low Tone (เอก) – Starts low and stays low. Example: ก่า (kàa) = to be stuck.
  • Falling Tone (โท) – Starts high and falls sharply. Example: ก้า (kâa) = to stride.
  • High Tone (ตรี) – Starts high and rises slightly. Example: ก๊า (káa) = a type of trade.
  • Rising Tone (จัตวา) – Starts low, dips, then rises. Example: ก๋า (kǎa) = (used in names).

How to Use

Listen to native audio examples for each tone, compare minimal pairs, and test your recognition. Practice with real Thai words that demonstrate each tone pattern.
